Two bowls, two berries, two very different profiles. Here's how to tell them apart and pick the right one.

What they actually are
Açaí (ah-sah-EE) is a small, dark purple berry from açaí palms in the Amazon. It's blended frozen into a thick, deep-purple base that tastes faintly like blackberry with a cocoa edge.
Pitaya is the flesh of the dragon fruit cactus. The pink variety blends into a bright magenta base that's lighter and sweeter, with a mild, melon-meets-kiwi flavor.
Taste and texture
Açaí is richer and less sweet on its own, which is why it pairs so well with banana, granola, and nut butters. Pitaya is brighter and tangier, and leans tropical — it loves mango, pineapple, and coconut.
If you like a dessert-leaning, chocolatey bowl, go açaí. If you want something light and fruit-forward, pitaya is the move.
Nutrition and caffeine
Both are antioxidant-dense fruits. Açaí naturally contains more healthy fats (from the berry), which gives the bowl its creamy body. Pitaya is a bit lower in fat and a touch higher in natural sugars.
One practical difference: açaí contains small amounts of naturally occurring caffeine-like compounds, so some people find it mildly energizing. Pitaya has none. Neither is a coffee substitute — the macros that matter most are what you build on top.
How we build them at Magic Bowl
Every bowl on our menu lists its protein, carbs, fat, and calories, so you can match the base to your goal. Add whey or pea protein to either base for a post-workout bowl, or keep it lighter with a Beauty or Wellness build.
Not sure which to start with? The rotating Today's Bowl is a low-risk way to try a build we're into that week.
